Our Lecture Series: the Authoritative History of Salsa & Mambo!

So you think you know enough about Salsa?
How about Mambo? Would you like to know more?

Because many of us still don't know much about the history of Salsa and Mambo, NJISC2010 is bringing
two of the foremost authorities in the history of Latin Music: Barbara Craddock and Izzy Sanabria!

From the Palladium Era...

Barbara Craddock

Barbara is an American professional dancer and choreographer specializing in Latin Dance and an internationally accredited dance competition judge. With her late partner Pedro "Cuban Pete" Aguilar, she helped make history in the preservation of clave, the principal rhythmic component of Latin music. Barbara performed in "nightclub" styled programs in the New York/New Jersey area with Kiko Fernández. At NJISC2010, Barbara will share her enviable experiences both as a professional and social dancer at the Palladium Ballroom, from the late 1940s until its closing in 1966. More to come...

And from the Fania Era...

 Izzy
 Sanabria

A former promoter, professional artist, actor and historian, Izzy is also known as "Mr. Salsa" because he almost single-handedly popularized the term "Salsa" during the 1970s which the world now recognizes as the name for New York’s Latin Music. His album cover designs and illustrations also set new standards of quality in Latin music packaging and provided the world with its first visual imagery of Salsa. At NJISC2010, Izzy will share his life and anecdotal experiences with many of the musicians who recorded the many songs we dance today. More to come...

Experience the history of Salsa and Mambo at NJISC2010!
